The mission of the Old Capitol Storytelling Festival is to encourage and enable the artful telling of stories of the Utah Territory of the 1850s, including its prehistoric past, its indigenous peoples, and its contemporary concerns. We'll be exploring those stories in a variety of ways, all of them entertaining!
Stories of the Utah Territory
Held on the first long weekend in March, the Old Capitol Storytelling Festival will again be presented by Friends of the Territorial Statehouse & Museum, Utah Pioneer Heritage Arts, and The Great Basin National Heritage Area (and several additional sponsors). The festival takes place in Fillmore, Delta, Garrison and Eskdale, Utah, and Ely and Baker, Nevada with the Old Territorial Statehouse Museum in Fillmore being the title venue.
We will feature MORE wonderful Headliners at our concerts and educational outreach performances, along with local and regional artists, entertainers, storytellers, exhibitors and vendors -- something for EVERYONE!
The Festival will dovetail with the Old Capitol Arts & Living History Festival (held the weekend after Labor Day) as the storytelling extension of everything that makes the Utah Territory unique.
